Cementation Africa is proud to announce the opening of applications for its 2025 Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Learnership Programme. This is a remarkable opportunity for motivated, unemployed South African individuals who want to build a solid foundation in workplace safety — a critical and respected field across industries, particularly in mining.
This six-month learnership is hosted by the Cementation Africa Training Academy and is open only to candidates referred by a current Cementation Africa employee. If you meet the criteria and are serious about pursuing a career in health and safety, this could be your first major step toward building a professional future.
Application Deadline: 7 October 2025
Why Choose a Career in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)?
In every industry — especially high-risk environments like mining, construction, and manufacturing — the safety of workers and the surrounding environment is a top priority. Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professionals play a vital role in ensuring that these workspaces remain compliant, safe, and productive.
By participating in this learnership, you’re not only gaining practical knowledge and technical skills, but you’re also contributing to a culture of responsibility and care that protects lives and preserves the environment.
Whether you’re looking to pursue a long-term career in HSE or use it as a stepping stone into another professional path, this learnership gives you the tools, certification, and confidence to get started.
Programme Overview
The Cementation Africa HSE Learnership is a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 2 programme that focuses on giving learners a broad understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in the workplace.
During this six-month course, learners will be exposed to theoretical training and practical experiences designed to:
- Promote awareness of safety standards in the workplace
- Teach identification and control of hazards and risks
- Introduce legal and procedural safety compliance
- Build skills to conduct essential health and safety measurements
- Encourage independence and responsibility in promoting a safe work environment
The qualification is also generic enough to allow mobility across industries, making it ideal for candidates who are unsure which field they’d eventually like to specialise in.
Graduates from this programme will be equipped to perform various entry-level HSE functions in workplaces — especially in environments where safety is non-negotiable, such as the underground mining sector.
What You’ll Gain
Here’s what successful learners can expect from the programme:
- A nationally recognised NQF Level 2 qualification in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
- Real-world experience within a mining-focused training environment
- Improved chances of future employment or further learning in the HSE field
- Personal growth in terms of discipline, responsibility, and communication
This programme also opens doors to further studies and specialisation in occupational health and safety, giving you a head start on a stable and in-demand career path.
